Mechanical Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will work on 2nd shift with the Maintenance Supervisor and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance as well as special projects.

Essential functions and Responsibilities may include the following (others may be assigned):
  • Requires familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Ensures mechanical operations of CNC Machines, mills, lathes, grinders, conveyors, forklifts and other miscellaneous equipment
  • Reads and interprets electrical schematics while working with electrical ranging from low voltage up to 480V – 3 Phase.
  • Repairs electrical equipment while troubleshooting wiring, motor controls and sensors
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Checks fits, clearances and appropriate adjustments to equipment.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in equipment (electrical / mechanical).
  • Uses various devices to test equipment’s performance.
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
  • General building & facility maintenance including concrete floor grinding/staining, line marking and other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED; Post-secondary school or trade school is an asset.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the troubleshooting and repair of equipment similar to CNC Machines, Mills, Lathes and robotics.
As a bonus, the ideal candidate would have some machining and fabrication experience – including metal fitting, welding and cutting.
Ability to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communications.

This position requires constant standing, walking; use of hands and fingers; frequent talking and hearing.  Requires occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling and crouching.  Incumbent must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds. 
Position works both indoors in an office and manufacturing setting, as well as outdoors in a manufacturing environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, gas, odors, dust, mists, toxic or caustic chemicals; heights, cramped quarters, oil, grease and dirt. 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. 
The noise level in the work environment is classified as moderate to loud.
