Whitesell is now evaluating candidates for a Manufacturing Engineer position for its Whitesell Precision Components (WPC) operating division, located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. WPC is focused on highly engineered, machined components that are utilized primarily in the automotive market. This position requires someone who is energetic, can think independently, and has a strong technical background. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Design, develop, and implement processes to produce high volume product utilizing high precision machines and processes.  Multi-spindle machining experience is preferred.   
 
Candidates that tend to be successful in this position are adaptable to a small company environment (flat organizational structure); are very hands-on; are results oriented; and are able to  work with people at all levels from shop floor, to customers, to management. This is a detail oriented position that requires someone that will roll up their sleeves and drive all aspects of the position until completion with good follow through and the ability to work with all levels.  Must exercise considerable planning, judgment and ability to work independently.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions and responsibilities include the following (others may be assigned):
 
  • Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
  • Works to develop tooling and processes for new jobs in manufacturing.
  • Works on troubleshooting and improving repeat jobs.
  • Support shop floor with all technical knowledge necessary to run high volume machining.
  • Develop design specifications for equipment that supplier must build to and meet.
  • Support technicians with setup sheet and work instruction generation.
  • Create spare parts lists, PM documents.
  • Responsible for developing, designing, building and implementing fixturing for multi-spindle equipment.
  • Responsible for developing and writing work instructions.
  • Determines equipment and suppliers for the manufacturing of components.
  • Develops, implements, and follows timelines for the installation of equipment and processes.
  • Maintains awareness of current technology availability and how it can be utilized for Whitesell.
  • Strives to improve performance on current jobs.
  • Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematic.
  • Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product.
  • Compiles and analyzes operational, test and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.
  • Plans and develops experimental test programs.
  • Distributes new jobs to manufacturing and discusses potential problems and opportunities prior to production.
  • Addresses problems and opportunities on the front end of all jobs.
  • Supports ISO/TS-16949 efforts by compliance with quality policies and procedures. After proper training, conducts internal compliance audits when requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and 2 years’ experience
  • Or, Associates Degree, technical school degree with equivalent job experience; minimum 5 years.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Completion of a pre-employment drug test with negative results.
