Whitesell is now evaluating candidates for an Operations Manager position for its Whitesell Precision Components (WPC) operating division, located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. WPC is focused on highly engineered, machined components that are utilized primarily in the automotive market. Candidates that tend to be successful in this position are adaptable to a small company environment (flat organizational structure); hands-on management style; be task and results oriented; able to work and communicate with people at all levels from shop floor, to customers, and report to management.  This is a detail oriented position that requires a leader that will roll up their sleeves and has considerable planning, judgment and ability to work independently while driving continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. You will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
Essential functions and responsibilities include the following (while others may be assigned):
  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
  • Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
  • Commit to plant safety procedures
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
  • Drives lean manufacturing, quality, cost reduction, on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development
  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships
  • Maintain OSHA safety, ISO 9001, TS 16949
  • Well versed in automotive requirements
  • Experience in implementing and sustaining a Lean culture
  • Demonstrated ability to create and meet schedules and perform multiple tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing and able to accept responsibility and accountability for results
  • Ability to work with other departments to solve challenging problems
  • Bachelor’s degree in related engineering degree or extensive experience in plant/production management
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a CNC machining facility as a Operations Manager or Production Supervisor who has the desire to accept a challenge
  • Excellent organization, management, and leadership skills, including strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Hydromat experience a plus
  • Current with OSHA standards and expectations
